A Glimpse of Barangay Macalong

The name of the place was actually taken from the story of the two surveying engineers who happened to be exhausted, hungry and thirsty. With the hope of an aide, they asked the residents in Ilocano if there are available foods for them so they can ease their fatigue “Ada aya mabalin nga Macallong wennu Macilaban apo?“. And because the people of this place were very unstinting and welcoming, they were fed and entertained. Hence in 1960, this place converted into a barangay carrying the name “Macalong”.
