A Glimpse of Barangay Papaya

In the early period, people don’t stay long in this place because of its forested attributes and remoteness. It was called Malabing before and was made used as a passageway because of its accessibility to the urban areas. According to records, some Ifugao trekkers brought with them fruits like Papaya to consume in their 1-2 days travel. Obviously, the seeds were thrown anywhere in the place until Papaya became ample in the area which became a waiting place for these trekkers. Popularizing the meeting place, they called it “Papaya” and in 1974, because of the increasing settlers and population; it was created as barangay separating from Malabing.
